Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from low income households and receive free lunches. Despite their circumstance, they are dynamic, creative, & entertaining. Visitors to our site often comment on how warm and welcoming our school is.
Being such a small and poverty stricken school site leaves us woefully underfunded, and without the technology necessary to teach in a 21st century world.
My students deserve to understand how to utilize all of the same technology and materials found in more affluent schools. Students who have access to computers have higher achievement academically. According to an article from Science Daily, "Students who have participated in 1:1 computing report higher achievement and increased engagement," (ScienceDaily). For this reason, I am reaching out to the Donors Choose community to help my students achieve the highest levels of success.
My Project
Having access to 21st century technology is essential to success. This MacBook will make all the difference in my teaching. I currently have been supplied with a dated PC that does not have the functions or applications I need to utilize for my students to be successful. Having a functional computer makes all the difference. It makes lesson planning and day-to-day tasks easier to complete. Also, in the classroom, I show students educational videos to supplement their learning and integrate technology softwares into lessons. Without a computer that runs current software this learning just can’t happen. Help me make my students 21st century learners by supporting my project.
