As a teacher in a low-poverty Title I school, I see the different challenges that our students face in and outside of school. With all of these challenges, sometimes it is difficult to see what is hidden in their hearts. However, when given the chance, and with some coaching and encouragement, I know our students can open up to reveal their true colors of positivity and awesomeness to the world. By opening up, I hope that they can help others become more positive remind themselves that they can achieve greatness now and in the future.
Currently, our school has only Chromebooks available for students. While this is a huge blessing, there are some programs that I would like to use with my students that require the power and compatibility not found on their entry level laptops.
The Macbook Pro computer I am requesting would serve as the main computer for STEM projects.
Our school has access to powerful programming, photography, movie, presentation, and design applications that can't run on our student Chromebooks. As previously mentioned, are students are still able to accomplish a lot with what they have, but having even one additional powerful compatible MacBook at their disposal would provide them opportunities to access and exposure to these more powerful software applications. Although not all students in our class would be able to use it, at least a handful of students would be able to use this computer in afterschool enrichment clubs (such as our STEM and yearbook clubs) as well as during off-campus activities.
