My first grade students are in a Mandarin Foreign Language Immersion Program. The Mandarin Immersion Program is a 50/50 model; instruction is 50% in English and 50% in Mandarin, with both classes of students sharing a Mandarin-speaking teacher and an English-speaking teacher. Students spend half the day in Mandarin and half in English.
The Mandarin Immersion Program is designed to help students achieve academic success in both English and Mandarin and become bilingual, bicultural, and biliterate.
For English language arts, we use Readers and Writers Workshop within a balanced literacy framework. This is a child-centered, progressive program that focuses on differentiated instruction.
Our school is a Title I School providing high quality education to a diverse student body. Braddock houses three unique programs: Mandarin Foreign Language Immersion, Gifted Magnet, and Community School.
My Project
I require a MacBook Air so that I can utilize it to enhance my students’ educational experience. With the use of the MacBook, we will cover different science lessons, experiments, and watch videos from several educational websites. I will also use the Macbook Air for Shared Reading purposes which will enhance my students’ reading fluency and comprehension skills.
Students will be able to reach their unlimited potential if they are provided with the appropriate learning tools.
This laptop will allow my students to participate in a variety of learning activities and will also provide endless opportunities for them to research on topics of their interests.
