My students need snacks. We eat lunch at 10:15 and towards the end of the school day lunch, energy has been lost!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every day with my students amazes me. My students face many different challenges, yet they come into the classroom ready to learn and full of excitement, and they work their hardest to make me proud.
Our school is a diamond in the rough.
I work in a low-income district in Southwest Detroit where I have the best students. They are artistic, hardworking, humorous, and a lovable group of students that make me love my job. I look at the faces in my classroom, and I am struck by how much they have been through in a short amount of time. I've made a promise to help them achieve their goals and dreams.
My Project
I chose a variety of snacks like pretzels, goldfish crackers, animal crackers and fruit snacks so students have a choice. These snacks will be given out towards the end of the day. This will give me the peace of mind of knowing they have some sort of nutrition to either eat here at school or take home in the event they need it later.
I've stocked a snack section for the last two years, and students can also come to me at any time during the day if they are hungry.
Sixth grade lunch is very early, at 10:15 am to be exact. Our school day runs from 7:30 am until 3:00 pm. Due to being a Title I school, breakfast and lunch are provided for every student at no cost. I know that for some students it is their only chance for nutrition.
I'd like to have to opportunity to offer them something to take home if needed. Our classroom would be very appreciative.
