My Students

My students and I have been together for two school years. We started in first grade, and are now ending second grade. Their biggest challenge will be leaving their friends, and leaving me. My biggest challenge will be seeing them go. We've become a family, and that cannot be taken for granted.

My students are amazingly diverse, and incredibly bright.

They love learning. Read-Alouds are such a special time in our room. They know it's my favorite time of the day, and I think it's many of their favorite times as well. Our students are on all different academic levels. We've worked very hard to create a culture of support for each other.

My Project

Last year, I was able to purchase our favorite first grade read aloud for the class. The kids were so excited, and still tell me how they're reading, and rereading it this year. It feels really important to me to be able to give them something similar to close out this year, as they embark on the summer, new classes, new friends, a new teachers, and new experiences. I want them to have something tangible to remember these years.

They love books with spies, and mysteries. The students will each receive one, and can read it over the summer, and through next year. For some, this is something they can read independently. For others, they can read it with their families. Either way, this is such a special book, and just a fantastic read.
