This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have the most beautiful classroom of kindergarteners that deserve to experience this amazing field trip. Our school is located in North Minneapolis in the Cleveland Park neighborhood. You may have heard of us on KARE 11 during a year long feature on our school during the 2017-2018 school year entitled, "Lessons from Lucy Laney." We are a proud school that is 82% free and reduced priced lunch and 14% highly mobile/homeless. This year, our budget was unable to allocate money for field trips. I want my students to have as many opportunities for real world experiences that broaden their learning experiences. I want to create experiences that will last a lifetime for these young scholars.

My Project

Minnesota students know winter, but Disney on Ice presents Mickey’s Search Party will whisk students away to a fantastical acrobatic wonderland! The show includes Beauty and the Beast, Moana, Elsa, Aladdin, Toy Story, the Little Mermaid and more. The experience of live theatre is so very different from other forms of entertainment to the students in our community. We cannot wait for our students to sing along to their favorite songs. We cannot wait for our students to critique and compare and contrast their experience from this performance to other experiences throughout the school year. I would truly appreciate your support to fund my project. The smiles and joy from this performance will last a lifetime for my babies.
