This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The last few school years have brought many challenges. This upcoming school year we are facing another challenge. Our class sizes have more than doubled due to budget cuts. Our school's budget was significantly cut. This means that not only did teachers lose their positions, but there are less classes on each grade and classrooms have more than double the amount of students this year. I will have to prepare for a completely different situation this upcoming school year, very similar to last school year.

Due to these circumstances I have 25 second graders listed on my roster for the upcoming school year which will all be in a small classroom space with 5 round tables that will barely fit them.

I have no choice but to remove my teacher desk taking up a lot of space in this small classroom space to include a horseshoe table to support struggling students in small group instruction.

We are in need of this horseshoe table to support various students throughout the school day. I currently do not have a small group table in my classroom and need a place to work with students to increase their reading skills during our guided reading lesson or to pull out students during their independent math practice and be able to support them individually to meet the academic goals.
