Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is made up of 32 very diverse and creative young thinkers. We share many different cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic levels, and we grow and gain amazing insight and community, built from this wonderful broad perspective. We are a school that includes all levels of learners in our classrooms with support and equity. We live in an urban setting, where many of the families struggle to provide for their students' needs, and we strive to ensure that students have support, materials, and opportunities to participate in the learning, regardless of these struggles. Our class goals are built around curiosity, perseverance, and fairness. We make mistakes and actually embrace and reward them because they allow discussions toward learning. Wouldn't it be great if your boss did that?
We teach positive mindset and encouragement and learn about helpful leadership through our studies, which helps them see where they might later use this strength in their own lives.
We practice using our voices to speak up for ourselves and the world, before heading off to middle school, through our studies, and these materials, we are hoping for, will expand their potential for learning infinitely.
My Project
Having a small table to come to and seek help away from others is a great way to focus them if they are too shy to ask for help around thier friends.
I'll use this table to help give those students some confidence and build their skills!
The shape of this table is great for maximizing space in the room, and I can scoot in and see their work and demonstrate to them so that they can see and model the practices while we are learning. Students usually LOVE this type of table!
