Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I’m a kindergarten teacher. What makes my students so special is this is their very first year in elementary school! (Actually, my school is a K-8 school.) Some of them have never been in a school setting before, so they’re filled with excitement about learning new things.
My students are like little sponges right now waiting to absorb the water.
They’re excitement daily and eagerness to learn despite having to learn from a computer screen right now inspires me daily to be a better teacher.
My Project
Kindergarteners need a lot of hands-on activities at their age. This is why I chose these items for my students. They will help my students learn with hands-on projects for both at-home and in-person learning.
I plan on using all of these items at different times throughout the school year.
I will be sending home monthly supply bags starting in September filled with items to help them learn. These items will give my students the opportunity to use materials that they otherwise wouldn't have access to while they are learning from home for the first semester of school year.
When my students are able to come back to the school building, we will continue to use these donated supplies for monthly projects. Some of these projects make include learning about seasons, holidays, letters of the week, numbers of the week, etc.
