Low-Income Pre-Adolescent/Adolescent Girls in Need of Bottoms for School

Help me give my students uniform bottoms they can wear to school when they outgrow their clothes OR have *emergency bathroom situations* and need a new pair of bottoms.

My Students

Over 80% of our students are from families are classified as "low income". Many of our students are now worried about experiencing homelessness, which they have not had to experience before. We also have several students who do not receive food if they are not at school.

Over 80% of our students are certified or eligible for free and/or reduced lunch.

The areas many of our students live in (if they have a permanent residence) are not safe, and many who have been experiencing homelessness for over 6 months this year. Our students are often in need of backpacks, basic school supplies, and even hygiene products. Now, however, our middle school students are growing out of their clothes at a rapid rate and are in need of new uniforms, also.

My Project

Today, January 7, 2022, I had yet another student come to the counseling office in need of some bottoms. This time, however, it was not because she had outgrown the ones she was wearing, but because she is in *THAT AGE* when *ACCIDENTS* happen (6th grade) and the issue was visible all over her bum and the back of her legs. The poor girl would not even walk from the bathroom to the office (approximately 30 feet) without me standing behind her, in case someone walked by and saw. Of course we do have some necessities in our office for such incidents, however, we often do not have bottoms to fit our adolescent students.

Because of the accident, this student not only needed new pants, but also a fresh pair of underwear (recently donated, thankfully), which is when she then informed me she needed, because she no longer had any underwear that fit her and her mother could not afford to purchase any, at the moment.

It then caught my attention that, even though I had given her a feminine product that she could use, she would not have been able to use it had we not had that new pack of underwear that was graciously donated to us not even three weeks ago. That donation was a blessing in disguise. While we often have girls in need of supplies of new bottoms, it is not everyday that they are in need of new underwear, also.

On the other hand, I have had three girls approach me within the last 3 days asking if I had any uniform bottoms or gym shorts for them, because they only had 1 or 2 bottoms left (or none at all) that properly fit them, given their bodies have changed and grown.
