My Students

Creative and Ambitious are the best ways to describe my students in elementary band. Our district offers band to students starting in the 4th grade which gives them a one year head start for band studies. By the time my students reach 5th grade most of them get to continue with the same instrument, therefore, giving them a huge advantage into starting middle school band with two solid years of experience.

This past school year, 2018/19, was a big year for students to showcase their songwriting talent for band.

Students wrote songs that the bands got to perform for their friends and families at the Spring Band Concerts.

My students love band and love learning about the different band instruments. Many students have shown how quickly they can learn the mechanics of each instrument and even go on to assist other students with maintenance needs to make our band time more productive.

My Project

The goal of this project is to help strengthen our low brass section. A solid low brass section with trombones will give the students a fundamental idea of how strong and full our band can be.

Our goal is to build on our trombone section because we want to give students the option to learn lower brass instruments, so as to give our band a much fuller sound.

Some students like to learn upper woodwind type instruments such as the flute or clarinet. Whereas, other students prefer instruments which sound much lower. Our low brass (trombone) section does not contain very many trombones. With your support we can help provide more.
