Loving to Learn at F. Elementary

My students need math and reading games to enhance the skills they are learning in class. The Chunks word building game comes recommended by other teachers, I think it will be a great learning tool.

My Students

I live in a rural farming community where people take pride in their work. I am happy to be a first grade teacher and I get the opportunity to work with some awesome six and seven year olds each and every day.

Children love to learn and I enjoy watching them learn and grow each day.

I can't wait to watch them use these items in our classroom, this is going to be our best year ever. First graders rock!

My Project

This project is a good mixture of reading and math, and the items will benefit all students in my class. We will use the math games, one is called Sum Swamp and the other is Sums in Space, to enhance our learning of basic math facts. Then when the students have a good grasp, we will add this game to our learning stations. We will use the word chunk game to review spelling patterns and phonics skills that we've learned all year. This will also be very helpful to students who may have fallen behind on the reading strategies throughout the year, this will give them more practice in learning to read. The labels will be helpful in organizing the games in our classroom.
