Help me give my students engaging writing boards, word blocks, letter builders, and other word work and writing materials that will help my students develop early writing skills.
I have a wonderful class. My students are very diverse and have various educational needs. They love to learn in our comfortable and flexible classroom environment.
My classroom is a truly inclusive classroom in which students with and without disabilities learn together.
I have the support of a paraprofessional and a special education teacher for part of the day. My students have an enormous range of academic abilities. Several of my special needs students need intensive support, while some of my general education students perform way above the expected first grade level. I love this about my classroom. Each one of my students is unique in their own special way.
I also have students from various races and cultures. Some are English Language Learners. These students thrive in a comfortable learning environment. I have students who have ADHD and behavior modification plans as well as students who are independent learners and self-motivated. It truly is a diverse group of happy, loving, and kind students!
My Project
Last year, our school suffered from a fire. I lost everything. One thing that I'm currently trying to rebuild are my word work and writing centers for Daily 5.
I am asking for word work and writing centers that are fun and engaging for my students.
I want them to look forward to learning and practicing these skills independently, every day. I feel that by using manipulatives and hands-on materials, these centers will easily be differentiated for student's particular needs and various abilities. These centers will provide a constant reinforcement of crucial early literacy skills that can often become monotonous and boring if the strategies and activities aren't changed up, regularly.
