My students need to read in order to become better readers! They need informational texts to help prepare them for state testing and they need texts that entice them to read to help build fluency!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All students deserve to be in a classroom full of books to support learning. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, our classroom is in need of a class set of books. Most of my students are reading far below grade level and require extra support to reach their reading goals. My current classroom library does not contain books that peek student's current interests and reading level needs.
My students come from a low income, high poverty area and attend our Title I school.
Most of my students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. These scholars have dreams of going to college, becoming teachers, doctors, lawyers, artists, and writers. They work hard every day to reach their goals. Many of my students have struggled with reading and are years below grade level. These students do not have the needed materials at home to improve their reading scores.
Having books that are more aligned with their interest will allow students to have a shared reading experience with their peers and share their new found love of reading with their families. This will give my students more confidence and make reading even more exciting!
My Project
These books will help increase students reading levels, as well as create a love of reading. My students need a class set of a novel to improve their literacy including Sea of Monsters. They will be transported through different worlds, understand new cultures, and different lifestyles. Their horizons will broaden and their classroom will no longer have just four walls. Not only will the books help increase reading comprehension, but the resources will help students achieve higher scores on state standardized testing.
These boys and girls will have unlimited potential for learning, imagination, and literacy education with the addition of these books.
The knowledge my students will gain will be insurmountable.
