My Students

Welcome to Miss Hoagie's Classroom! My students are all in Special Education. They are faced with many challenges including educational labels, disabilities, poverty, and social challenges that come with being people of color. I focus on teaching my students how to be tenacious while building literacy and school success skills.

Energetic, lively and diverse-young people preparing to be independent, productive members of society.

My students are all Juniors or Seniors in high school that are working on gaining life-long literacy skills and preparing for graduation to help them achieve their post-secondary goals.

Help create a desire to read for fun! My students struggle with finding books that are interesting, readable and well written. Help my class build a class library of books that are motivating, accessible and good works of literature.

My Project

This book is a new and exciting example of well written, young adult fiction that is readable, connectable and interesting. With access to fun and engaging texts, students will develop their literacy skills as well as develop a love for literacy.

This is how one becomes a better reader! My class is in need of having class sets of novels to help us achieve our reading, and writing goals. Engaging texts lead to better student achievements and desire to tenaciously tackle texts.

Please help my spark a desire to love literacy by building up an exciting and engaging classroom library of course material.
