My students need 16 stability balls to help release their energy while becoming active and engaged learners.
When teaching at an extreme inner city school setting, every day is a challenge. Yet, every day is an opportunity to affirm and help these kids discover their self worth. I strive for my students to be actively engaged and to make learning fun.
I teach 3rd grade in the projects.
My students are not on grade level. Some are just a year behind while others are several years away from benchmark. On top of academic needs, they are lacking many basic/emotional needs. My students experience more darkness than their fair share living in the projects.
These stability balls will help my students who are very unmotivated and restless learners become active/engaged students. A constant battle is making students sit still in their seats. With stability balls, that constant movement can take place without it being unsafe.
These stability balls will provide a positive outlet for energy that desperately needs to be released and will create an exciting, new learning environment for my students.
Providing my students with a tool "outside the box" might just be the change needed to see growth in a struggling inner city classroom!
