This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic and amazing kids from the south side of Chicago. Most of the kids I teach are faced with challenges in their lives, both at home and at school. As their music teacher, I hope to help my students by encouraging them to express themselves in positive ways.

My students love music class because they get a chance to share a creative experience with their peers.

Our school is run on a bare-bones budget, and funding for the arts is just not there. Your donation would help to provide a quality musical experience for deserving students.

My Project

Soul Train was as iconic television program that ran from 1971-2006. Filmed in Chicago, Soul Train was one of the first nationally broadcast programs to feature and celebrate Black artists. Our students will be participating in an all-school Soul Train. They will read, watch, and learn about the program and its impact with their classroom teachers. The fun will cumulate with an all-school dance party through the halls of the school!

These disco party favors and backdrops will be welcome additions to the first ever all-school SOUL TRAIN!

Thank you for your support of our fun and interactive celebration of Black History Month. This will be a blast! Having disco ball party favors to pass out will make this experience that much more unforgettable for the kids.
