As a full-time elementary librarian, I see 440 TK-6th grade students a week in the library. Our students are diverse, bright, and love to read. My project is to add new biographies, nonfiction, chapter & picture books to the library to benefit and inspire all of our students.
My Project
In today's world, we need to teach children how to appreciate our differences and individuality as well as the things that we have in common. I've selected beautiful books that promote diversity, inclusiveness, kindness and tolerance presented in a very child friendly format with stunning illustrations. Loving one another is universal, non-denominational and non-political; I want to encourage children to look at our differences as a thing of beauty instead of something that divides us into groups. If we can learn to celebrate and embrace our differences, our world will be a better place.
