Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the teacher of the most amazing 5th graders. I have a General Education/Inclusion classroom with 23 eager students. Our school is an intercity school that sometimes is forgotten. I have been teaching at this school for 15 years and my heart keeps me here even though we have to get by on what we have. It is the faces of my students each day that keeps me coming back
My students could benefit from exposure to the classics and popular books to help instill a love for reading and inspire their creative imaginations.
My Project
I grew up loving to read. This love for reading was not only instilled by my parents but a third grade teacher that used to read to us every day. She always knew the best best place to stop and left us with a hunger for more. I follow her lead and want my students to have access to amazing books and to love the classics. I have tried to purchase books for my class but it gets pricey on my teacher budget. Please help me create a love for reading. My project is to update and build a wonderful library of books that my students will enjoy and remember the rest of their lives.
