My Students
My EL students love coming to my room in the morning, before/after lunch, and after school to check out books. They love taking the books home to read with siblings and parents. They enjoy reading fiction books where they are able to use their imagination and go anywhere.
My EL students speak English at school and Spanish is spoken at home.
They enjoy reading and sharing what they learn with their parents. Spanish books will allow my EL parents to support their students at home.
My Project
Parents and students will be able to check out these books on a weekly rotation. Parents and students will be able to use these Spanish chapter books to stay and feel connected with school.
Spanish books will help parents establish reading routines and help to support reading literacy at home.
Parents and students have and will continue to learn different reading strategies they can use at home. Spanish books will help to foster the love of reading at home. Parents and students will work together to establish reading routines, fill out reading logs, and have conversations about what the student and or families are reading.
