I teach special education in an urban school district in the inclusion classroom. I work with up to 25 students within six different classrooms and two grade levels. I teach, differentiate, and modify all the work my students learn in their classrooms.
Being a special education teacher is one of the hardest, yet most rewarding jobs.
My students are the sweetest, hardest working kids I know with many challenges presented to them. My students have a variety of learning disabilities, including Autism, Dyslexia, Specific Learning Disabilities and several others. I strive each day to create engaging, hands-on lessons for my students as many benefit from multi-sensory activities.
My Project
I try to instill a love of reading for my students. New books will allow me to reach different levels and interests of all my students. One of my students' favorite things to do is to read new books I have gotten from the library, I would love to permanently add those books to my classroom library so my students can read their favorite stories at anytime!
I will also use these book sets to help my struggling readers gain the skills they need to be successful.
For example, the book sets will be used in my guided reading books to help them learn through engaging and vivid texts!
