This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have come from many different parts of the world including Mexico, Somalia, Ethiopia, India, the Philippines, and the United States. They come with creativity, a wide variety of experiences, and an excitement for learning. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.
At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.
50% of my students are learning English as a second or third language. All of my students have the capacity to achieve greatness!
My Project
Very young learners are developing their knowledge and understanding of the alphabet. Teachers can help develop this understanding through offering lots of fun activities that help students explore alphabet letters and sounds.
I am asking for a variety of materials for preschoolers to learn their letters that will create a passion and confidence for learning that will go way beyond their first years of school!
These materials, particularly All About Letters Pocket Chart, Alphabet Mystery Box, and Hear Myself Alphabet Sound Phone Center will give my students a multi-sensory understanding of letter names and sounds.
Because my students don't have the same access to early experiences to language and literature as those in more affluent homes, these materials will help level the playing field.
