Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school serves students in South East D.C. K-8. Our students are dedicated and work hard to ensure the school's success. I have many young girls that love S.T.E.M. We are a school dedicated to teaching students beyond the classroom as well as 21st century skills.

I believe our students are some of the best in the nation, regardless of socioeconomic status.

Our students continue to strive and break down barriers by winning city wide STEM fairs, poetry contests, speech contests and have reading/math data that rivals those of well-served areas.

My Project

We have joined the Digital Promise initiative and students have received 1:1 devices. Unfortunately we have had several instances of improper online etiquette since our on-boarding. To bring awareness we have created a project in which we will be putting up an anti-cyber bullying billboard at a Metro DC Bike-share station. We need to secure funds to purchase the advertisement space. We will then travel (by foot) to the nearby Bike-share location to unveil our billboard on May 25th. This project will not only enhance 21 Century skills but make our students feel safe online in an increasingly complicated world.
