My students need a Fiction/Nonfiction Single Read Along Library and 4 Student CD Players. My students also need the Math Folder Game Libraries.

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go." — Dr. Seuss I believe in this quote because in first grade you start to develop good readers and the joy for picking up a book and love reading it!
My students love to pick up books and read.
They need to hear what fluent reading sounds like since many of their parents don't or can't read to them. Right now I'm lacking a listening center and books with a CD so that they can hear fluent reading. Most of my students get no additional help at home so school and my classroom is where most if not all their learning happens. They struggle in many areas, but fluency is what keeps them from moving to the next level. My students need to hear more fluent readers and be able to practice reading fluently as well.
My students work at work stations while I work with a small group on reading and math. One of the centers that would help my students the most is the listening center. Students would rotate to the center so each day all students will be able to listen to fluent readers. Students would be able to pick the story they want to listen to so they themselves can become fluent in reading the book. This fluency will help them increase their reading level. In Math, the folder games can help out because it will be a way for them to stay engaged in learning and understanding fluency in math as well.
Fluency is an area that causes them not to move to the next level.
A listening center will help them increase their fluency while listening to a fluent reader. My goal is to make sure that all of my first graders leave my room with the love of reading. My students need these materials to help ensure that they can reach that goal.
