I will focus on my homeroom group of students, but I am assigned to teach two classrooms of ELA. Therefore, 42 students will benefit. Although we are identified as a trauma sensitive school, I have never worked a more compassionate and empathetic group of students in my career. My student body consists of 8 students who are identified as receiving special education students via IEPs. I team teach with a math and science teacher, as well as an integrated special education primary service provider. Our entire district receives free lunch and are located in a very needy inner city environment. This year, I have transitioned to a new school and a new grade level from an affluent district. Therefore, I am hoping to provide the same access to materials for my current students to be successful. Any donations will be truly and greatly appreciated.
My Project
We will use our clipboards during our English Language Arts block to read renowned literature and respond to the texts in order to gain a deeper understanding.
The book display will be used to display our mentor texts, which we will refer back to multiple times throughout our reading and writing units.
Students will also have easier access to read our mentor texts during independent reading time.
Students will use their book bins to store their instructional and independent reading books, as well as reading and writing notebooks. The materials in these bins will be used to apply new reading strategies during independent reading time. Students will be reading and responding to literature during our hour ELA block.
