My students and I have lost our classroom, but not each other. As I write this I am thinking about my beautiful students who are some of my favorite people. They come to school each day eager to learn and excited to be together. Some may not have much at home, but we are a small family in our classroom. My students are thoughtful and kind- they check in with each other throughout the day.
My students are empathetic, compassionate, curious, and full of wonder-they work hard, play hard, and love hard.
Each day I watch as my students faces light up with curiosity and wonder about their world as they explore it. On my worst day, my students can make it one the best. It is my privilege and honor to be with them every day.
My Project
This project will help me and my students start to get a little bit of normal back in our lives after losing our classroom.
On November 8, 2018 we lost our entire school in the Camp Fire in Paradise CA.
Our classroom was a second home for my students, and for me. This project has been created to start making a new classroom for my students. Most of them have lost their homes, as well as their school.
I need to build a classroom that will provide safety, healing, and love for my students while we work on coping with this loss together. I would like to replace basic school supplies like a rug, pencils and a sharpener, especially art supplies like crayons, clay and markers. I will be using music and art as a way to help my students begin healing. Thank you for being part of our healing and renewing process. We will rise from the ashes.
