My library sees students in grades pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. They are smart, creative thinkers who love learning. While working cooperatively in groups, they enjoy hands-on, engaging projects that encourage creative thinking. Students come to school excited about working on science, math, reading, and social living activities and projects.
My school is a Success For All school and an A school.
It is a small school located in Louisiana. Many families within our small community struggle to find employment, making it hard to provide the basic needs for their children. Often, students come to class without school supplies.
My Project
Our school library is a place for students to enjoy reading a variety of books. Louisiana books will give my students access to books about New Orleans Saints, hunting, fishing, LSU, Cajun cooking, swamps, and many other Louisiana topics to read and enjoy. Every book that is in my library is an exciting opportunity for the students to explore different places and meet new people. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have students in grades PK through fourth grade who would enjoy these books. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading and improve their literacy skills.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of Louisiana books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
