Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students have parents that have instilled them with a desire to learn and share experiences, life, and hardships with their family within the campus. Students come to the library eager to learn about new books, stories, and to use technology that they don't typically have access to. They know how to read, but it is us to me to fuel their passion for reading, books, and all texts.
My students are eager to use technology in the library to create book talks, video book reports, & app smash.
The Title I school has at least 80% of the population receiving free or reduced-price lunch who live in a community that was affected by Hurricane Harvey. The students could use assistance in helping them apply academic vocabulary and techniques by having accessories for the available technology in the library that will culminate their reading.
My Project
Using technology to record their voice or while doing a video is a new thing to many students, and regardless of their personality, many become shy introverts when they are on the spot light.
With the microphones, all students, regardless of their shyness level, will be able to share their voice (literally) during recordings and presentations.
By having green screens available in the library will also allow students to enhance their video projects by app smashing while using the available technology when creating culminating activities for the books they have been reading. The green screens & book of ideas will be available for the students that are not ready to have to make their on screen debut, the student that wants to visit far away places, and even the student that wants to bring their learning to others.
