Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In a low-income, Latin & Mexican American population of Chicago, I educate students that have hearts of gold. I teach in a school where the students come to school to receive an education and to be safe from the crime in their neighborhood. They support one another to be successful, work in groups, and share in each other's glory. My students are truly on the path to success. They are exceptional thinkers and have a truly inspiring work ethic.
As a member of the school and community, I do my best to support my students and provide them with the best possible experiences and learning opportunities through music.
Our school provides the students with experiences in various after-school clubs, and a fulfilling experience in the fine arts (media, art, and music). However, we are low on funds and resources. These students should have access to instruments and materials in order to achieve a true fine arts experience. I come to you with hopes to bring the best educational experiences to my students. Will you be the reason they are successful?
My Project
In the classroom setting and beyond, students strive to have their voices heard. In the music classroom and ensemble setting, the same applies to the hard work and dedication it takes to practice and perform on an instrument! Currently, our classroom is in a dire need of guitar amplifiers to provide sound for all of our guitar students. With performances coming up, and being lined up for the future, the students are losing opportunities to perform due to our lack of equipment.
By providing my students with guitar amplifiers, you are providing these students with an emotional, social, and aural experience to have their musical voices heard.
My students have emphasized the importance of having instruments, and experiences to perform for live audiences. Receiving these amplifiers will mean the world to my students, and provide them with limitless opportunities for community performances, to even our city and state wide performance opportunities.
