My students are a group of fifth-graders at a small-town school in Oregon. They love to learn around the world around them and learn about faraway spaces and places. They're enthusiastic about learning and love working on projects. I've been so blessed to be able to loop up with them from fourth grade to fifth grade.
Our school is also AVID school-wide and we're committed to working in groups with each other.
We know that AVID strategies help us learn and interpret information as well as prepare us for our future in college or our career.
My Project
Last Spring, I had my beautiful daughter and spent the end of the school year home with her. I cherish those moments with her but I missed my kiddos in class! Thankfully, I've been incredibly blessed with the ability to loop with my last class.
We're so excited to learn together again, but we're missing out on some tools to make this year the best ever.
We need two kidney tables for our class as ours got left back in fourth grade. These tables help with our intervention times and help give us a clear space to meet for groups. We also need a new flat-screen TV to make our learning that much clearer, to be able to see projected information and to free up our whiteboard so we can use it to show our learning. We have older projectors and they're really showing their age. Being able to actually see the board will help use our AVID strategies so we're ready to apply our learning to our long term College and Career Goals.
