Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Computer Integrated Manufacturing is one of many classes at our school covering a myriad of career options in the engineering and design fields. We seek to explore the career pathway of engineering and learn about what it is like to design physical and digital objects for the benefit of humanity.
This class emphasizes the use of project-based learning and the engineering design process to learn about how products are designed and made, and helps students to refine their understanding of engineering and manufacturing professions.
The students in our a school come from a diverse array of ethnic and family backgrounds, and specific to the classroom in question, 30% of students use a language other than English at home. We work to encourage all students to explore career opportunities prior to leaving high school so they can make smart decisions about their post-secondary experiences.
My Project
This equipment will help my students to visualize what goes on inside a CNC machine while it is running. We already have a flat-panel screen mounted to the housing on the CNC machine, this Action camera will be mounted inside the housing to show what is going on in the machine in real time. The students will be able to see what the inner workings of the machine look like as well as how the cutters and various components work to execute student written code and produce a part. This project will help all students to visualize the operations they write out using G and M code language.
