My students need to continue reading great literature. This year we have already read two novels thanks to generous donations. They now look forward to reading each day.

My Students

The students that I am fortunate enough to work come from a range of socio-economic levels. This is a high poverty school where more than eighty percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch, our students often do not have books of their own to read. Our students enjoy the shared experience of reading books as a class, especially when they are a new twist on a classic. They come to English class with a thirst for knowledge and leave with a love of reading and literature.

My Project

This is a fantastic piece of literature that has won numerous awards. This book has also been around for generations. Through the novel we will journey through time and space to fight against evil. This fantastic literary journey will further enhance these sixth graders love for books. an added bonus will be a field trip the see it on the big screen From this we will learn about adaptation of a novel into a screen play and conduct research as to why changes were made. In addition we will be creating our own word to add to the wonnderful world we have been introduced to.
