Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Graphic Arts and Technology are the wave to the future. The Challenge to Innovate (C2i) is here today and our art students need to prepare. They enjoy using technology and a netbook in art will enable them to develop more relevant art projects. Art students also need daily sketching practice.
My students range in age from K-8th grade.
They all love to create art in all its various mediums. They are new immigrants to our country and art is their favorite class because it is a universal language. I teach in a Title One district which means that the families and area is very poor. It is often hard for them to put enough food on the table in these hard economic times. Art helps all of us forget our problems and create new worlds through creativity.
My Project
This project requires a HP Mini Netbook to use in art projects. My students have been learning Power-Point and Prezi presentations. Finding access to a computer can be tough in our school, so a netbook in the art room will make it accessible when needed for special art projects. Students will learn graphic art, presentations, animation, Claymation and graphic arts. They will also be able to access the Internet and study different art aspects such as: art elements and principles, studio art and art history. The HP Netbook is an invaluable C2i tool for art students today! We also need 50 sketchbooks for 2 art classes.
The future is now for my art students.
They have so many challenges being new immigrants that they have a lot to catch up on in order to compete in their world of education. Language, culture and technology are just 3 basic areas. This HP Netbook will enable them to catch up digitally in art, language and technology. Who knows what they will create given this wonderful technological medium?
