My students are 5 - 6 years old, entering kindergarten, many as first time students. We pride ourselves in promoting positive relationships and working cooperatively together in the classroom.
My students thrive when working in centers and they love having classroom materials that are easily accessible.
We love promoting independence as learners!
We are a part of a Pre-K through Second Grade School that is considered high poverty and low income in a rural area of our community where agriculture is highly valued.
My Project
The learning materials I am asking for include a Melissa and Doug Freestanding Fresh Grocery Store and Grocery Mart Stand. These items will encourage my students to use speaking and listening skills and increase their overall social skills in the kindergarten classroom.
My students need the Melissa and Doug Fresh Mart Grocery Store Companion, Melissa and Doug Grocery Basket, Food Groups Set, Farmer's Market Color Sorting Set and additional pretend play groceries.
These items are realistic food items and will help stock our mart. They will also provide real life examples of the healthy foods we should eat. These items along with the included pretend money will be used to mimic a realistic shopping experience.
This project will benefit my students thru various sorting activities and dramatic role play.
