Every day as I look out into the faces of my smiling students, I am so happy and honored to be their teacher. My classroom is comprised of students with different interests, backgrounds, abilities, and goals. They begin the school year as strangers and eventually become friends. As the year progresses, I notice a change in my students. Whether they are being supportive by encouraging one another to present a famous person report or to persevere when solving an equation, I am so proud.
My goal is to help my students work cooperatively and creatively to support one another in a positive and caring environment.
In my classroom, I hope to build respect for each other by accepting our differences and similarities. Throughout our lives, we all must learn to get along with others and solve any problems in a positive way.
My Project
At the beginning of the school year, students are placed in a room with a new teacher and new friends. I try to begin the school year with many community building activities. The resources that I chose will help build cooperative learning as well as help students learn to work together.
By teaching problem solving skills, diversity, cooperation, and respect for one another, I hope to create a positive environment which will help make our classroom a great place to learn.
