"Are we doing a science lab today?" Is what I want my 4th grade students enter class asking! I will be teaching 4th grade science and I want them to have have engaging and exciting science experiences. Through science labs students are able to have a hands on experience to help learn science!
I have the privilege of teaching science to the whole grade level!
Every 4th grader at my school will come through my classroom. My school does not have a science lab, so we will do all our labs in the classroom. I will have a variety of students who are energetic and excited about science due to the science experiences I will provide.
My Project
My students need 30 lab coats, not only to enhance their experience and authenticity in the lab, but also to show science mastery, and increase their investment in science. The student lab coats will serve two functions: to increase the authenticity of the labs we perform in our science class, and to increase investment in science as a course of study and career. I will be wearing a lab coat and I want my students to wear one too. During investigations, the materials can become messy, and my the lab coats will keep students' uniforms pristine, while allowing the students to investigate substances, perform experiments, etc., without reservation.
Science is becoming one of our country's greatest needs in an increasingly globalized and technology-based society.
However, it is also often overlooked in schools with an increased focus on testing reading and math. My students have the unique ability to receive science instruction each day, and I want to seize the opportunity to deeply invest them in science, and provide them with a venue for remembering the joy of science as they grow older and eventually determine a course of study.
