Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school has a family over 850 students and continues to grow. We are a Title I school, where every student receives free breakfast and lunch. The school climate can be improved with your help. In my typical class, there are approximately 90 students per class. Many students are looking to be with their friends, have fun, learn new things, or even to take their mind off of personal situations. Each student is unique and loved.
Many students in our school have been displaced by hurricane Maria, which has caused a huge influx of students, so imagine walking into a new school environment either as a kindergartner or a fourth grader or somewhere in between, especially when your way of communication is in a different language, and physical education is the common ground is learning by moving.
In my physical education classroom, a cooperative and judgment-free zone and environment is created, which allows students to try new ideas, concepts, and movements without the fear of failure.
My Project
With the effects from hurricane Marie and hurricane Irma, we have had a tremendous amount of influx into our school. This means I have 85 to 95 students per class. We are being creative in making different stations to work on eye-hand coordination.
With there being a mix of English speaking and Spanish speaking students, we are being creative with lessons to work on working together. My students need juggling scarves, the running man game, bean bag toss, and other equipment to work on their eye-hand coordination.
Having this equipment at our disposal would allow us to work on eye-hand coordination, as well as working together to achieve a similar goal. This equipment would be essential in our learning process. Thank you for looking.
