I am a teacher in the Bronx at a special education school. I have seven students with autism who learn very well with hands on activities and visuals. Each year we reviewed and learned new things about our community. Many times we visit the post office so that my students can see how the postman works in their community. Unfortunately for safety issues we cannot walk to the post office on a weekly basis to mail our letters. Since many of my students are learning to write it would be great for them to be able to write and mail letters to their family members. It would be great to create our own mini-post office within our school so that my class and any of the other classes can mail their letters and learn how our postal system works. I can imagine how excited they will be when a family member receives the letter they wrote home!
