My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
Many students in my classroom come in saying they have difficulty completing practice assignments at home because of lack of supplies and resources.
Our school is nestled in the heart of Brooklyn.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The simple machine kits will be placed in the front of the classroom and used during our science exploration lessons and our club time.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of problem solving, working together and create clear plans of what they want to do to create simple machines.
With these Lego Simple Machine materials students will create and program a device that will allow them to test designs from their imagination. They will also be able to document evidence and present their findings about which structure design(s) are best for withstanding different tests.
By implementing STEM through LEGO education materials , my students will begin to see themselves as true scientists, inventors and architects. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming life-long learners. As the teacher, I have done extensive research and on STEM and Lego materials in the primary grades classroom. Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
