My Students

Exceeding beyond expectations perfectly sums up my students. Every day, students here come to school with challenges far beyond their years, but every single day, they are able to amaze me. Not only do they come to school, they are also in one of the highest achieving districts around, despite being one of the most impoverished districts.

There is nothing I love more than seeing our students achieve despite their circumstances.

They work harder, show incredible resourcefulness, and use every advantage they are given to make the best of their circumstances.

My Project

Many people see dictionaries as 'old school' but they still have a place in our world. Google isn't always available, and even with it, students still need the skills to look up words. Words have meaning beyond the spelling: roots, suffixes, parts of speech, multiple definitions.

Students with dictionaries learn the skills to interact with words at a higher level!

Critical thinking skills grow, and they are challenged but meeting the mark. When students are provided with dictionaries, classroom vocabulary can come to life and words grow more than when they are just given to students.

Students who can look up a word and know the parts of a definition can be successful with their vocabulary.
