Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Remember that teacher who used to tell you to, "look it up," when you just wanted to know how to spell a word? I am proud to say that I've become that teacher! Please help provide classroom dictionaries for my students.
My 4th grade students attend a public school in Illinois.
Most of my students are English Language Learners who have low socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of my students come from hard working families who cannot always provide language support at home. However, my students are sweet and hardworking children, who are enthusiastic about their futures.
My Project
My awesome students desperately need dictionaries to help them with their writing, vocabulary acquisition, and reading comprehension. With access to dictionaries, my students will be able to become more confident with their Language Arts skills. This will also increase their independent work skills and help them develop personal accountability for their learning.
While the use of technology has become increasingly prevalent in schools today, the importance of foundational skills has not been forgotten.
Please help young students have access to dictionaries that will help them develop strong word knowledge.
