Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have a diverse community of students. Our school is located in a suburb of major Texas city. Our school is a Title I school, and our student population, 9-12, is approximately 2300 students. About 84% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Our dedicated staff takes personal interest in helping our students succeed not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. Many of their families have sacrificed lots to give their children hope and opportunities. Unfortunately, this does not always afford the students the luxuries of their peers in other places. My athletes lack many modern comforts enjoyed by other schools. They may not have the newest clothes, shoes, or technology, but it does not dampen their spirit. They have a wonderful zest for learning and an innate drive. That is why it is so vital that they see a small recognition of their effort. So we may cultivate this spirit and energy to propel them forward.
My Project
By having an athletic bag, the student would be able to protect their athletic gear and make them a better player on the court.
These bags will be provided to our student-athletes to use for the season at practice and especially games.
By providing these bags for our athletes, we will be able to show off our connection from the time we walk off to the bus or out of the locker room, until the time we walk off the court. This will also help them to take care of their equipment and keep it together and in good shape.
