My students are optimistic and hopeful. They are survivors of the Camp Fire who are currently finishing their 8th grade year of school in Magalia, CA.
These 8th grade students are demonstrating resilience in every way imaginable.
Every day is difficult, and nothing is easy in our current situation. These students have 3 months left before their 8th grade promotion to high school. At such an important time in their lives, I want to give them the best experience possible.
My Project
We have 8 acoustic guitars in my class, and I have been teaching my 8th grade students how to play basic chords. The students love learning guitar during their elective time, but could use a few accessories that would really enhance the experience for all students.
A few simple guitar accessories improve efficiency, and make every students' experience much more enjoyable.
We need tuners, straps, and stands to improve our beginning guitar class. At the moment we only have one tuner, which makes it a timely process for students to get prepared to play. Additional tuners would give all students the opportunity to learn how to get their guitar in tune, and it would increase the amount of time they get to play every day.
Stands, and straps would make our environment much more conducive to learning. It would allow us to keep the guitars organized and great condition. Straps will provide comfort and allow for more movement during instruction.
