Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a low-income area of Los Angeles County. All of my students come from low-income families. We are a Title I-funded school where one hundred percent of our students receive free meals. My students always try their best at everything and anything despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives.
They are expected to have it less easily than others, but we learn that with hard work and consistency, they can be unique or different from the rest.
My students are so eager to learn that it makes coming to work easy!
My Project
Teaching in a Title I school often means limited supply. What this project will do will help my students create charts that will display a variety of information. Poster boards and paint will help the classroom create work and charts that they will be able to present to their classmates. Having students create project-based assignments frees them from the traditional and usual writing tasks. These supplies will help my students present their work using different modalities. Creating ways to keep learning different and interesting is key with my students.
