Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have twenty-two active and curious four and five year old students. These students are English Language Learners in a Title One school where more than ninety-five of students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My Pre-k students are happy and excited to be in school.
Even though my students have challenges, I focus on each child's potential. I want to help my students develop and grow as much as possible during the time they are in my class. It is important for me to get them the resources they need to be the best learners they can be. I know that with a little support, my students will thrive.
My Project
Our dramatic play center is a powerhouse of learning. My students unleash their imagination as they take on familiar roles from home. We have obtained various community workers costumes for pretend play. These costumes need to be accessible for our students when they play so that they will use them and internalize concepts we have covered in class. The mobile dress up center we are requesting has a place for hats and shoes as well as hooks for hanging up clothes. It also has a mirror so that students can see themselves in these costumes and imagine their future.
Dressing up helps students explore a variety of roles that they might take on as they grow.
Being able to have this mobile dress up center in our classroom will ensure that costumes and dress up clothes will always be available for students to use. We learn more when we play!
