I have 24 ready to read Kindergarteners who love story time. They are discovering the wonderful world of reading and enjoy diving into a new book.
Many of these students have a parent who is actively serving our country in the military.
We are a school of National Pride and these students know first hand what it means to sacrifice for our country. I want to provide these students with the best possible tools for learning, they deserve it!
My Project
Learning to read is a huge feat for our little learners. These Kindergartens need countless opportunities to hear fluent readers read stories. A listening center is a great way to make sure my students are provided with this opportunity everyday. During our literacy time the students would enjoy picking up a favorite book and even though they may not be able to read all the words on their own, they would be able to pop in the CD and follow along. This will help build the foundation these young learners need to be independent, successful readers for the rest of their life.
Listening to stories is how we all go hooked into the captivating world of reading.
These Kindergarteners need to experience the joy of turning the page of a good book to see what will happen next. This additional center in our classroom holds the potential to produce a future New York Times Bestselling Author!
