My students are the best 2nd graders in the world! It's true, I promise. All 30 of my students enter my classroom each morning ready to share experiences, learn and to grow together every day.
Located on Chicago's West Side, I teach at a school where 96% of my students qualify for free and reduced lunches and almost half are English Language Learners.
This does not define them. They are hopeful dreamers, thinkers, and readers! This group of 7 and 8 years olds loves to learn more than anything. As their teacher, I do the best I can every day to facilitate this thirst for knowledge!
The furniture that I am requesting for my classroom will help my students collaborate, stay organized and most importantly stay safe. I am asking for a sturdy shelf and bins to replace the old shelves and bins that currently line my classroom walls. Unlike the old shelving, this shelving is sturdy, will not break, and will give students a home in the classroom for all of their supplies. The chairs I am requesting will replace plastic stools, many of which have broken this past school year. These new chairs are colorful and fun, but also promote collaboration with their ball bottoms, so that students can easily move them around the classroom to work in groups. Lastly, I am requesting a large white board table. We use whiteboards and dry erase makers daily in my classroom. This table will be a tool for students to show their work in realtime and not waste any learning time, going to grab supplies.
My students deserve classroom furniture that not only promotes collaboration and maximizes learning time, but also is safe, sturdy and will stand the test of time.
Your donations will help this become a reality for my classroom and I can't thank you enough!
