My students come into my class smiling and if they don't, they leave smiling. My students are strong and resilient children. They have survived the turmoil that Hurricane Harvey has bestowed on our community. When they walk into my classroom a visible stress release happens and the creating begins. Every one of my students is able to express themselves creatively in my class.
My students have so much talent in drawing, painting and other forms of Art.
I get to chat with all of my students while they are creating and I love building those relationships. My students are learning about art through different cultures while also being able to learn and respect cultures different from their own. I have a fantastic diverse community at my school; being able to show those cultures' Art history validates each student.
My Project
My students come to art class wanting to escape from daily struggles that are still lingering in their homes from Hurrican Harvey. When they enter my room they are able to release that stress, learn about different cultures and art techniques and have fun at the same time. Students come into my room telling me how much they love art and how good they are at it, I would love to reciprocate that feeling by displaying their work around school.
My students are creating beautiful and unique compositions that are worthy to be displayed around the school for faculty, parents, students and other visitors to visibly see their talent.
Unfortunately, with cinder block walls it makes for a hard time as an art teacher to hang art in hopes that it stays on the walls for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. These 8 foot bulletin boards would make displaying student work easy and durable.
Students constantly create amazing 3D projects, paintings and multi media art but continually fall down due to the weight of the composition. Being able to attach students projects to a full bulletinboard in the hall and have them stay up for weeks at a time would be amazing for the students to see.
