My Students

Our students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. They enjoy and participate in their education, yearning for knowledge and understanding of not only complex texts, but also life skills.

The students are creative and engage in a variety of learning activities, which require critical thinking and discussion within a classroom community.

Students with special needs are set in our inclusive environment and benefit from a supportive classroom community. Each student is inspirational in his or her own way.

My Project

I am asking for thirty copies of Lois Lowry's The Giver. The materials I am requesting for my students will be right at home on the classroom bookshelf. We need your help in getting the books through our door. This class set of texts will help the reading process run smoothly from day to day.

By implementing this text, my students will begin to see themselves in the literary characters and will engage in what for some may be an initial exposure to dystopian literature.

We will use these materials daily to aide us in the process of becoming life-long readers. I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks.

The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in reading comprehension and literary analysis through discussion and authentic writing.
