Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As my students walk, bike, skate or are simply driven to school, they face a world that is overwhelmingly technological: cars, digital billboards, traffic lights, airplanes in the sky, and much more. At home, they interact with television sets and their mobile phones. At school, they use computers, tablets and the Internet to collaborate, do research, and compile and analyze data. As city dwellers, they explore maps, bus routes, events and places online.
My students are naturally curious, intelligent, and unique.
They are not afraid to delve into difficult problems or offer solutions to local and global issues. Some have learning disabilities, others are gifted in the arts, a few are both, and many are English learners, but every one of them contributes to the class a plethora of valuable experiences and perspectives. Their lives are a testimony of diversity, but also of resilience and hope.
We are a public "magnet" middle school, located in Los Angeles, California. We are also a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) school with a focus on environmental justice and stewardship.
My Project
My students will soon receive an iPad thanks to a generous grant. While the iPads on their own are a powerful tool, Logitech Crayon Pencils will unleash their creativity and improve their ability to share ideas and collaborate with others. They will also allow us to achieve our goal of becoming a paperless classroom.
The Logitech Crayon Pencils for iPads will revolutionize my 6th-grade students learning experience in the classroom and motivate them to become better science writers.
These pens will allow them to write and share their digital notes seamlessly. It will provide my students a writing experience that’s as natural as pen and paper improving their notes taking and brainstorming skills.
My students will also be able to us the Crayon Pencils to drag and drop media throughout the apps we use in the classroom, handwrite annotations, and add drawings within those apps. They will also be able to present their ideas better when constructing tables, drawing diagrams, building graphs, or showing the steps of an equation.
Finally, these Logitech Crayon Pencils for iPads will also allow them to design digital scientific models, as well as models of products that are part of our environmental, service projects that they undertake in the community.
